For a general shopping site that sells products from a variety of product categories;

Is it better to limit the depth of your directory structure for SEO purposes?
IE;
Root_folder/shopping/computers-index.htm/
Root_folder/shopping/desktops.htm
Root_folder/shopping/clothing-index.htm
Root_folder/shopping/sweaters.htm

Or would it be better to take advantage of the opportunity to name the additional folders (in a deeper folder structure) with good keywords?
IE;
Root_folder/shopping/computers/computers-index.htm
Root_folder/shopping/computers/desktops.htm
Root_folder/shopping/clothing/clothing-index.htm
Root_folder/shopping/clothing/sweaters.htm

Doesn't really matter. The important part is how you link to those files from the other pages in your site. Click depth and the link anchor text matters a lot more than putting extra keywords in the URL. (And the directory structure doesn't enter into it at all -- it's how you organize your site navigation, not how you organize your files on the server, that matters.)
