Hi, I have several store views such as domain.com/fr, domain.com/de   and the homepage is domain.com with the English language, if so, could you give some advice for the domain.com/fr , domain.com/de

1. if I make the French backlinks, should I link it to the domain.com or domain.com/fr , which one is better for French store?

2. How to make the page's weight of domain.com/fr similar with the competitor's homepage domain.fr?

If you're looking to rank your French site in France, make sure you're tracking localized search engines. For example, in China we need to optimize for Baidu, in Russia, it would be Yandex. You have to see who the big players are there and optimize for them.
Google's Official Webmaster Central blog states, "It's difficult to determine geotargeting on a page by page basis, so it makes sense to consider using a URL structure that makes it easy to segment parts of the website for geotargeting."I strongly agree with this — if you can map out the right location structure first, the rest of the project will be much easier. But, before we start to map website architecture, let's take a look at the pros and cons of each URL or domain option.
e.g., example.de, example.fr
