Title: Content vs Backlinks?
Post by: Roy Milson on 03-30-2016, 07:11:33
Hello folks,

What is considered as more significant, creating content or building back links?

;D what came first, the chicken, or the egg.

The way I started out firstly focused on quality content that is unique and keyword rich in areas like the top, center and bottom of the page. If images are part of the content, I would use alt tag to describe the image, but toss in a keyword as well. When I was happy with that, I started working on backlinks.

Hope, It helps.

Both content and backlinks are equally important for your website. Content helps to build your keyword ranking and backlinks help to generate good traffic to your website.

Content: Content is like a King in SEO,google like fresh, quality and unique quality content and to increase potential of your website.Updating fresh contents tends to increase the traffic visit.
Backlink: Backlink is a link back to the pages or one of the pages that currently link to the page you are using. Backlinks are already supported to the some extent in the present web system.

I think that backlinks are important, but nowadays with so many competitors around, your best SEO efforts should be focused on good content. In short backlinks means nothing without good content.

Content is very important in the SEO process because the google will crawl the good quality content and it will increase the rank of website.
Backlinks are the links which can be created to redirect promote the website.

Both of them have the same effect. If you do white-hat SEO, you can't only build link without creating content regularly. If you focus on only creating content with link building, we can get a high rank in the SEs. However, I think content is more significant in the long term
Some big website such as Hubspot, they only focus on content. All most of them is useful for reader => increase traffic => improve ranking => increase traffic and everything goes on that way  !-!
So Content is the most important factor :)

Both of them are important, because they complement each other: you will not be able to get quality backlinks without good content and a good content has no value unless it gets good backlinks. Quality content is necessary for ranking and backlinks help to to build authority to your website.

Both of them are very important for you! As for me, backlinks have more benefits, they are:
1. Increase search engine rankings
2. Traffic generation
3. Generate sales and/or subscribers
4. Become recognized as an authority in your niche
5. Sell advertising
6. Joint ventures

Backlinks are important for a website but present Search engines giving more importance for Content compare to backlinks.

If you do not have any content to post there is zero chance of getting any backlink whereas on the other hand if you have some content to post you are sure to get a few backlinks and if your content is good enough to attract viewers chances of getting more backlinks become bright.

So in my opinion both are required to build SEO but content is foundation of SEO.

Both are important as without Links only content can't help and also without content only Links can't help. So 3 more important factors to rank in SEO are Links, Content and Rankbrain.

There was a time when your website's content – or your website's content keywords – were the presiding factor to bringing traffic to your site and pushing you up to the top of the search engine listings. Then Google began to preside over the internet and it decided backlinks were the best way to calculate if your site was good or not, and by association determine your search engine position.

both are Equally important factors that come into picture when Analyzing rankings.

Even if you create Backlinks but they have low quality content then those backlinks may not be so useful. Similarly if you create a very high quality content but don't market it properly or build good quality backlinks then that content won't reach out to a wider audience.

So it is very important that you create High quality content that is shareworthy and also build high quality backlinks using LInk Building methods like Guest posting, broken link building methods

Backlinks: depends on the quantity and quality of the backlink profiles for your competitors. If they have a much higher DA/PA/Trust, than you probably need to build that up to compete.

Content: unique, long form content works best. Aim to be share worthy... if people share your link on social media, they will probably link back to your website as well.

depends on the niche your site is in. If you are a photography site you and your competitors will not have a lot of content. You do need content to forego a thin content penalty though. Backlinks are very important as long as they are quality (in the beginning). Content can get you backlinks if you have content that others want.....If your site has so-so content and no backlinks it will not rank. If your site has so-so content and good backlinks, it will rank....

Backlink is most important for your site, but maintain quality. The first tip is to make sure that a website or a blog has high quality content. Article submission, blog post and forum post, social bookmarking makes more quality backlink for your site. Quality content is best way for quality backlink.

Both Quality Content and Quality back links are useful for ranking and reputation of a site. Content helps to promote your keywords and rank they higher in search engines and Back link building helps to build your website traffic from various relevant sources.

Yes, both content and back links are important but the question was which is more significant.  Good content is what is most significant and over time will have the most impact of the 2 options given (content vs. back links)....but why? All the back links in the world will not help a site that originally has poor content.  Another reason to have "good" content on your site is best answered by another question.....Why do you have the site to begin with?....You want visitors to the site and ultimately their business.  Visitors to your site don't know how many back links you have nor do they care--Visitors are maintained to your site because of its "good" content and its usefulness.  Remember....poor content....prepare to meet the Panda!!

Depends what you mean with "significant".
Content will have users stay on your site longer. They click and interact. They even give you backlinks.

Backlinks will rank you higher (if done right), which cause users to find you.

So it is all connected.

So for conversions, no matter how many backlinks you have (i.e. no matter how many people find you), without quality content you wont get a sale, you wont get a sign up, and you won't get people to stick around. Google sees this and will start to take your ranking away and you will drop on the search results.

On the other hand, you can have AMAZING content, but without backlinks (assuming that is how you want to rank, as there are other ways to rank other than backlinks) no one will ever see your content and you are screwed then also.

Usually people have no real understanding of SEO when they ask thee questions. Which is not bad. I started there as well. Dont look for shortcuts. Educate yourself on SEO and you will see how easy it really is.

So unlike all these people above me that say you need both (jeez man),

the REAL actual answer is this.

Content is a human factor. It is a people thing. This will boost user experience.
Backlink is a machine factor. It is a google thing. This will increase your rankings.

Asking which one is more important, is like asking which one is more important, an apple or an Orange?
Well.. the answer would be.. well depends, do you want fiber in your diet, or do you want vitamin C?

Although directly connected in terms of SEO and yes you need both to have  complete package (ranking high AND generating conversions) each one target one specific side of a whole coin!

Content

Always remember one thing CONTENT IS THE KING .
Think about it in this way
If I am a visitor on your site and  you have good original quality  content there is a chance that your site will naturally be shared, I will tell my friend on fb or blog or forum - "Hey look this site seems AWESOME . Check it out  " .
I.E. You will get BACKLINKS naturally . It will add cherry to the cake .

That is not a fair analysis at all. Content is king... sure. But without back links it is like being king of nothing.

Without backlinks no one is going to see your Awesome content. Not one is better than the other. Without one the other is useless.

Both are important. If you have quality content you get more shares and natural backlinks. More people want to link to you.
But if you do not have a good content then you have to build backlinks yourself to rank it higher.
