Can somebody plz elaborate on ctr, and its importance with some examples.

The purpose of click-through rates is to capture customers' initial response to websites. The page click through rate (CTR) is the number of ad clicks divided by the number of page views.

if you have a higher CTR and a lower bounce rate, yhe searching engine (whoo gets all the datas - check in your Analytics) will rank you higher in SERPs!
these are some powerful ranking factors, because they are saying that you have a great content and some relevant meta datas!
