Can people share their experience if location of web server influence ranking in search results for that country?

I am referring to general (not country specific) TLD like .com. Of course, if TLD in .de then Google understands that website is targeted to Germany, and ranks it higher for in search results for that country.

Thanks

Yes definitely, the web server location will help you to make your website popular in specific location. Therefore server location is very important for hosting a website and get popularity in search engines.

Google search results depend on the location of the website and the location of the surfer. A result of the same location will likely be shown on top while results from other locations will likely be displayed on bottom. This is also true for countries. For that reason many homepage owners wish their website to run in a specific country. They say that Google analyzes the IP address of the server, finds out about the country that the domain content is related to and sorts the search result by that information.

Of course yes, goodle can understand from the extension to a site's url that belongs to which country.
Your response does not shed any light at all. I already discussed country-specific TLD :

"Of course, if TLD in .de then Google understands that website is targeted to Germany, and ranks it higher for in search results for that country."

Not quite correct or well thought out. What you are stating is about local search, i.e., if person is reaching for veg restaurants, then even if location is not specifically mentioned in search string, google understands that searcher is looking for restaurants located in her location, and hence results are of restaurants located in that location. This is irrespective of location of web server of restaurants.

Hi all,

Actually i don't think it's all about location.. Let's just say if i host my website in the US and i target the German market. (So i will use a .de domain) Then the location where your website is stored shouldn't matter... the only problem is that every german user will have to connect to a server in the US and that will definatly effect the speed of your website. The website speed is a ranking factor.

Greetings,
Frederiek

Definitely affected, but it's just one of many options that are worth paying attention.
If you have a really nice and useful site for US, but it is located in Germany, you can still be in a good position.

Hello All,
I don't think that web server location will influence ranking. Google only focus on domain extension, not on the server address. Why it focus on the  server address? If i have a business settled in US and i buy a domain and server space from UK based company online, then thats not the mean that my ranking will be affected because of these reason.
