Forum signatures can help with SEO?

I agree that forum posting does provide valuable backlinks, but I can't see how it helps build traffic as has been suggested.

In my opinion if forum provides you do-follow links in signature then it will help you in improving back link and traffic both and if the forum provides no-follow links in signature then it can increase your site visitor only. So, forum signature helps in SEO by the point of view keyword ranking, visitors and back-links and build reputation on line.

Signature link can help you but before this it is your responsibility to post good content and appropriate answer of the queries so that user will find it useful and will come to your site too through signature kinks.

In my opinion, link-containing thread signatures will not make or break your Search Engine Optimization campaign. However, it is very easy to include in all your posts. For my business, I keep a Word document open all the time and paste in my signatures, keywords, and other commonly-used optimization phrases for easy access. Every time I need the signature, it is intact and correctly linked.

On the downside, many forums do not let you link in your posts until you have proven yourself useful (after so many posts.)

Forum signatures can definitely help with SEO if it's a DoFollow link. Keep in mind the first word or two is really what carries the link juice in terms of your focus keyword.

Its not only better for do-follow links but you can drive relevant traffic to your site from other sites. If you get .edu and .gov backlinks from by forum then it is much better for your site.

I have done experiments with this link building tactic before. 95% of forum signature files are nofollow links, which really won't help much at all. The few forums that do allow followable links in the signatures usually provide very low link value because that forum is essentially linking out to thousands of completely random websites. The one thing you will benefit from is driving in referral traffic to your site if you are posting in a high traffic forum.
