When your starting with new website always start with ON page activities, do not concentrate only on search engines but also look as a user point of view. ON page activities consists of Title, keywords, description, site speed, image alt attribute, generating google webmaster & analytics code, canonical and 301 redirect etc. After these are properly done move to off page, get backlinks from quality websites. Be active in social media regularly update in it. Whatever may the  work keep quality in mind and work.

Making your website successful you should follow these points:

- Start making pages about every subject which is related to your business.
- Use the basic SEO for all these pages.
- Diversity your traffic. > Social media > Forum posts > advertise etc..

I've used these simple strategies for every customer now and everybody grew from 5 - 10 daily visitors to 100 a 200 daily visitors :)

Hi,
You can check on-page properly like title tag, meta description, alt tags images, heading 1 to heading6, internal linking, sitemap, robots.txt, etc... then do off-page like search engine submission, Google listing, business listing, dmoz listing, social bookmarking etc....

To start, there are several essential steps you can follow to ensure your website is optimized for search engines and attracts organic traffic. Here's a basic guide to get you started:

1. Keyword Research: Identify relevant keywords related to your website's niche. Use tools like Google Keyword Planner, SEMrush, or Ahrefs to find popular and low-competition keywords.

2. On-Page Optimization: Optimize your webpages by placing the identified keywords in strategic locations such as titles, headings, meta descriptions, and throughout the content. Ensure that your website's structure is well-organized, with clear navigation and user-friendly URLs.

3. Content Creation: Develop high-quality, informative, and engaging content that aligns with your target audience's interests and needs. Regularly update your website with fresh content to keep visitors engaged and encourage search engine crawlers to index your site more frequently.

4. Link Building: Seek opportunities to acquire backlinks from reputable websites within your industry. Guest posting, resource link building, and creating shareable content are some effective strategies to build quality backlinks.

5. Technical SEO: Optimize the technical aspects of your website, including site speed, mobile-friendliness, SSL certificate installation, XML sitemaps, and robots.txt files. Monitor and fix any crawl errors or broken links regularly.

6. Local SEO (if applicable): If your website targets local customers, optimize it for local search by including your business name, address, and phone number (NAP) in a consistent format across your website. Also, create and optimize a Google My Business profile.

7. Analytics and Monitoring: Set up analytics tools like Google Analytics to track your website's performance, measure visitor behavior, and identify areas for improvement. Regularly review your progress and adjust your SEO strategies accordingly.

Here are a few additional steps to further enhance your SEO efforts:

1. Create a Mobile-Friendly Website: With the growing use of mobile devices, it's crucial to ensure that your website is optimized for mobile users. Responsive design and fast loading times on mobile devices can significantly improve user experience and search engine rankings.

2. Optimize Page Speed: Slow-loading websites can negatively impact user experience and search engine rankings. Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix to identify and resolve any performance issues, such as optimizing image sizes, minifying CSS and JavaScript files, and leveraging browser caching.

3. Enhance User Experience: Make sure your website is user-friendly and easy to navigate. Aim for a clean and intuitive design, clear Call-to-Actions (CTAs), well-organized content, and fast load times. Analyze user behavior using heatmaps and session recording tools to identify areas for improvement.

4. Utilize Social Media: Leverage social media platforms to promote your website, build a community, and generate backlinks. Engage with your audience, share valuable content, and encourage social sharing to increase your website's visibility and reach.

5. Monitor and Optimize: Regularly monitor your website's performance using various SEO tools. Keep an eye on your keyword rankings, traffic sources, bounce rates, and conversion rates. Identify areas that need improvement and tweak your SEO strategies accordingly.

6. Stay Informed: SEO is an ever-evolving field. Stay updated with the latest SEO trends, algorithm changes, and industry best practices. Follow reputable SEO blogs, join forums, attend webinars, or consider enrolling in relevant online courses to stay ahead of the curve.

7. Consider Professional Help: If you find SEO overwhelming or time-consuming, consider hiring a professional SEO agency or consultant. They can provide expert guidance, conduct in-depth keyword research, implement effective strategies, and monitor your website's SEO performance.

In the beginning, gather the complete list of relevant keywords queries for your site.
Then change the structure of your site so all keywords can be spread through the pages of the site.
Next, you should do the on-page optimization and off-page optimization.

As i think one need to do all the off page activities in a proper manner and after that gradually stop some activities like directories and classifies if not required etc.
