If we search the website from its name without www. or extension like .com and it appears in search then we can say it not penalized nor banned and if it doest not appear in search result then it may be penalized or banned.

I think it is really important to know if your site has been penalized by Google. Here are few indications you might look for:
- a sudden or steady drop in rank;
- check webmaster tools for a manual penalty;
- stay current regarding the Google updates.

There are 2 ways to check the penalized or banned websites.
1. Through Google Webmaster tool, check the status of your website.
2. Manually check by typing the name or URL of your website on the search box. If it's not there, it means your website's got penalized or banned.

As I know that the easiest way to check penalized website is checking warning message in Google Console (GWT), another way is monitoring your your traffic and your keywords ranking, if you see that they're dropped or lose ranking suddenly then maybe your site is penalized. IMO

If we put keywords in the Google search box and our site is not getting rank for any keyword then our site may be penalized by the Google. In Google search console also in message box we will get messages if our site is penalized.

Here are few indications you might find out if your website is penalized or banned :

1.Go to Google webmaster Tools and check if you have received any warning message , if there is no message/notice from google informing you that they have penalized your site due to violation of their quality guidelines, then this is a good sign.

2. Check Google Analytic for Traffic Data , If your traffic seems normal for 1 day, and the next day there's a sharp drop-off , that's a pretty good indicator of a possible penalty. and sometimes the drop is due to the changes of Google's search results ranking algorithm, and now you have to find out what the update is all about .

3. Check whether your site is Indexed or not , Go to Google and type in site:yourdomain.com.
