Is Domain Authority still Useful for SEO?
« on: 03-19-2016, 05:05:45 »
Hi Folks,

I have heard and read somewhere that in 2016, domain authority is meaning nothing. Google many times changed their algorithm, but Moz remained in a Stone Age.

As the result, in 2016 the MOZ metrics are completely meaningless for SEO purpose. Thousands domains with high DA are Google penalized or banned.

How rightful is that importance?

Domain authority is based on three factors: Age, Popularity, and Size. It is useful when a high domain authority link gives you back link. It will give you ranking benefits if the link is relevant to your services.

Domain authority is the measure of domain strength and popularity in search engines. It is a numerical value provided to your domain by Moz and it measures the trust your domain has in search engines. It can be improved by good content update and also by building backlinks from other relevant sources.

Domain Authority is not going to die very soon, but it is. Because Google knows How Authoritative the domain is just of the behalf of Domain authority and that's why its going to be effective for the next couple of years.
But, Offcourse it's not the only ranking factor and it affects the ranking just a little bit and it can't affect the rankings too much on its own...
Hope it's useful for you! Thanks

Domain authority is the SEO zombie that refuses to die. This useless metric has derailed more search engine optimization projects than can possibly ever be counted. Domain authority is not used by either Bing and Google.
Google has flat our denied using Domain authority. Bing has been more coy on this topic but does not discuss any possible uses of Domain Authority. Since the search engines that matter most people don't use Domain authority or anything like it in their ranking processes, Domain Authority can't be useful!
