No, Google took the focus away from keyword density.

You can create your primary keyword just once or twice and then try to focus on synonyms and semantics (related words).

For example, if jogging shoes are your primary keyword, remember to also build in related words such as sports shoes, (brand name) jogging shoes, (brand name) sports shoes, jogging gear, best shoes for jogging, etc.

I think It is still a factor, If you are using less than 2% keyword density then It will be potential.

As long as you write in a natural way you don't need to be worried about keyword density. Don't use same words again and again instead use similar words, synonyms instead of using same keyword again and again. The main thing is the content quality.

Most marketers are now aware that keyword stuffing is not only ineffective, but that it can result in a manual action against their entire site. However, many marketers and writers still struggle with whether or not keyword density still has a place – even a small one – within SEO.

If you are using  2 to 3% keyword density then It will be prospective. It still works.

Keyword density tells you how often a search term appears in a text in relation to the total number of words it contains. For example: if a keyword appears three times in a 100 word text the keyword density would be 3%. From the point of view of search engines, a high keyword density is a good indicator of search engine spam. If a keyword appears too often in a website, search engines will downgrade the website and it will then appear lower down in search results.

Yes your main KW needs to be in the important places such as URLs and Titles, but it is not as important as it used to be, especially not in the way that tools or plugins would suggest, because where they would say your SEO is good might actually be over optimized because you mentioned the same phrase too often. So be careful of following the outdated tools.

There is no “optimal” keyword density you should be aiming for. In fact, pages that held the #1 position in the SERPs used their keyword an average of only 7 times, while having an average of 1285 words on the page.

However, there are a few important things to keep in mind:

Placement of keywords is more important than frequency.

Word count become a more important ranking factor than the number of keywords used.

There are many (many, many) factors that go in to ranking, so just focusing on one as the winning strategy isn't going to work. Plus including too many keywords can hurt your site. (This article explains why correlation studies can't tell the whole story --> http://www.canirank.com/blog/search-ranking-factors-are-bs/ ). Better to focus on creating content that adds value for your site visitors, and as others have mentioned, be sure to include secondary keywords and related terms.  :) Good luck!

Yes, keyword density is still important for SEO. Because some of the high DA website allow keyword density function. Such as Articlebase, Sooperarticles which have high DA and allow only a fix amount of same keywords. We cannot excess the quantity of that word.

Actually. The answer is a resounding NO!
Google now looks at content. It has to flow naturally. Matt Cutts, had a talk about that exact same thing.
He recommends that using your keyword 3 to 4 times is more than enough. Why?
Because in your content it should become clear what your page is about. Stuffing it with keywords now can get you labeled as a spammy site. Thus your site should not be clear based on repeating a keyword 8 times. It should be clear by the text you surround on topic to that keyword.

. Keyword density depends on words count like top-ranking pages used their specific keyword approximately 8-10 times, while having an average of 1285 words on the page.

2. Word count has become a more important ranking factor than the number of keywords used.

3. Relevant words and phrases have increased in importance, and marketers and SEOs would do well to increase their focus on incorporating these words and phrases into their content, rather than on calculating keyword density.

Here provide how should keywords be used? There some few tips

Position of keywords is more important than frequency.                                  - Use the primary keywords in Title,H1,H2 ,Url and at least once within the body of the text content and no do more keyword stuffing on that page, its a spamming.
Focusing on the long tail keywords
Proper keyword research and analysis is still more importance for finding overarching topics as well as related and proof terms.

Not at all. Google Hummingbird took the focus away from keyword density.

Think less about density and more about developing your theme.

Have your target phrase(s) in mind then make sure to hit the following locations with it or a highly related plural or synonym.

Title, headline, URL, body copy (italics, bold) and maybe even in outbound anchor text or some inter linking.

Get at it as often as its naturally applicable. Focus on fully covering the idea/theme you've set out to share, in no less than 300 words.

I'll update with some world examples later...back to football

Yes peoples are still using spamming techniques like keyword stuffing, doorway pages & others to over optimize the website. Make sure about webpage keyword density, it should be not more than 3% and better to use synonyms for target keywords that reduce keyword density and support to create more relevant webpages.
