Shortening only works for those websites / networks that have some character limit (like Twitter). It’s not helpful everytime like...you will kill the effect (or limit its impact) if you shorten URLs for social bookmarking.

Short URL is user friendly because it is easy to remember. It is advisable to embed your target keyword in URL to take SEO benefits. (Url should not be short or not be too long).

Not really! May be at some sites where you can't put your lengthy dynamic urls, it may resolve the problem.

An optimized url structure will consist of 2-5 words (shorter words) separated by dashes. See example below. You will also want to include keywords in the url and avoid words like the, and, or etc... There is a character limit to url's, which is around 70 or so I believe. Anything that goes over that will be ignored.

see crawlers search keywords .and if present in urls it is beneficial .in that case url  shortening fails !!Rather url re-writing works where urls contains query string,it must be removed and optimize the urls contain keywords to make a positive impression

Shortened? The more relevant your URL to your keyword the better. Shortened URLs are good since they can easily be remembered by web users. On the other hand SEO-wise I guess it has its disadvantage when it comes to ranking major keywords. Domain names are one of the most important factor in SEO.
