Google announced in 2009 that neither meta descriptions nor meta keywords factor into Google's ranking algorithms for web search. Google uses meta descriptions to return results when searchers use advanced search operators to match meta tag content, as well as to pull preview snippets on search result pages, but it's important to note that meta descriptions do not to influence Google's ranking algorithms for normal web search.

Not at all, meta tags have lost their power in a big way on rankings over the past few years and, as a natural result, the number of websites using them has vastly diminished. It is no longer useful and discard as being dead in the water in terms of SEO benefits.

Yes meta keywords are still important to rank your website higher in search engines. They are a specific type of meta tag that appear in the HTML code of a Web page and help tell search engines what the topic of the page is.

Meta keywords were used to be sure that each keyword accurately reflects the content of your pages. But, meta keywords are not in use nowadays, search engine not using meta keywords to know the content anymore.

Meta keywords has been used as a negative ranking signal, and probably still is to some degree. In other words, you might not gain much or anything from using it, but if you spam it, you could get devalued. My gut feeling is that the negative signal is much, much stronger than the positive one, and even Google may still use it as a negative signal. I'm certain that Yahoo/Bing has used it as a negative signal

One of the recurring questions is does Google still utilize meta keyword tags in SEO ranking factors.
SEO professionals MADE debate over this issue. The debates are based on an article RELEASED by Matt Cutts of Google released in 2009 SEPTEMBER. The article, was also SUPPORTED by a video, informed us that Google no longer uses meta keyword tags as a SEO ranking factor.

If you're using Wordpress site and have Yoast SEO plugin installed on it, they said that the meta keyword tag do not have any worth in SEO anymore, it does not affect good nor bad. Then you can use if you want, that's no problem.
