Please give me your feedback and correct me if my assumptions are wrong or you have an better idea.

I have chosen around 100 keywords, most of them are long-tail. Of course some of them are harder
to rank than other, a keyword like "gluten free vegan chocolate cake" is easier to rank
than "chocolate cake".

Lets further assume I make 10 articles with similar keywords, 1000+ words,
some linking between the articles, great on-page-optimization and some medium good backlinks:

gluten free vegan chocolate cake
suger free vegan chocolate cake
vegan german chocolate cake

and so on... Every articles revolves around one of my hard keywords like "vegan chocolate cake".
Then I make an an "Top 10 vegan chocolate cakes" article and link every one of my easy keywords revolving
around "vegan chocolate cake" to my "top 10.." article.

Is my assumtion right, that the "link power" of my easy keywords articles is going to boost my
hard keyword article?

Of course my hard keyword article is going to need some good backlinks and 1000+ words to rank,
but is my basic understanding of internal linking right?

And what if I want to rank for a short tail keyword like "chocolate cake"? Would I need 100 articles?
What is your experience with similar keywords/internal linking strategies? I would appreciate an detailed answer.

Your understanding of inner linking is mostly correct, but that is not how you're going to rank unless they keywords are super easy to rank for (which I doubt)

You're going to need powerful links, so I would recommend going after fewer keywords at first, and building your way from there, instead of trying to go after 100 together.

If all of this is on the same site, then structuring your site is very important and using the inner linking efficiently, but beyond that you will have to narrow your focus on a subset of the keywords and rank those.

What is your anchor text strategy? Are you using only the keywords as anchor text in all backlinks which you are creating?

On the off chance that you might want to make great SEO for your customers then you have to do all manual, and for human . So its regardless of how much backlinks you profit site its matter nature of that connection, if your specialty is about autos, attempt to get joins from trusted locales who discuss autos with high PR.

Your assumption regarding the use of internal linking to boost the ranking of your hard keyword article is generally correct. Internal links can help distribute "link power" throughout your website and signal to search engines the importance and relevance of specific pages.

By creating articles with similar keywords and linking them to your "top 10" article, you are effectively consolidating the link equity from those easier keywords to your harder keyword. This can potentially improve the ranking of your hard keyword article since search engines consider both external and internal links when determining the authority and relevance of a page.

However, it's important to note that while internal linking can be beneficial, it may not be the only factor that determines a page's ranking. You mentioned other important aspects such as on-page optimization, backlinks, and content length, which are all crucial factors for SEO success as well.

Regarding ranking for a short-tail keyword like "chocolate cake," it's unlikely that simply creating 100 articles alone would guarantee a high ranking. While a comprehensive content strategy can definitely improve your chances, it's important to consider other factors such as competition, relevancy, and overall website authority.

In terms of personal experience with similar keywords and internal linking strategies, it's difficult to provide a definitive answer as search engine algorithms are constantly evolving. However, it is generally recommended to focus on creating high-quality, relevant content that provides value to users, implement solid on-page optimization techniques, and acquire authoritative backlinks to improve your ranking chances.

Ultimately, search engine optimization is a complex process, and success depends on a combination of various techniques and strategies tailored to your specific website and target keywords. Regular monitoring, analysis, and adaptation are key components of a successful SEO campaign.

You are on the right path. Firstly clear one thing that the keyword which you have chosen is relevant to your targeting audience or not. Is the product which you have chosen in demand in the location or not? If you are targeting as per the keywords then the keywords are absolutely correct. For more quality backlinks you can do Article submisison, Guest posting, Business listing, Forum posting, Branding.
And it is not compulsory to post 100 articles, just try to post 2 or 3 articles in a week on high DA sites which give you quality backlinks.
