Title: Rank 1 page for two very different keywords
Post by: seomonster1 on 10-31-2019, 13:46:41
Hello,

I have a client who has an existing page for a program they offer seasonally. This program has an official name (that they rank for #1) but a different sub name that changes each year. The two names are not contextually related.

Is it possible to rank for the sub name that changes each year and optimize for that AND not hurt the official name?

Official name is in the url - www.companyname.com/official-program-name and do not want to change that.

Help and advice appreciated!

use a single keyword for each page (and no more than one keyword per page). Some SEO gurus argue this is the best way to get higher ranking for that particular page in the SERPs. My personal opinion would be 1 or 2, but I would like to hear what you suggest and think about it.

It is very hard to rank for a short tail keyword today. I would recommend yout to target a long tail keyword which will cover your short tail keywords too so you will be able to rank for many keywords low competative as well as high competative.

You're right and you can use 2 synonymous keywords for each page that you can target for SEO ranking, and keywords should be long tail.

Its really possible to rank page 1 with different keywords as long as these content targeted keyword phrases answers the users needs.

You can target two keywords by simply adding that particular keyword in your content and sub heading such as "H3 & H4"

If you are looking for rank 1 for two different keywords, then you can go with link building techniques for the website promotion. You can also add a blog section and write a blog for a particular page and target two different keywords.

You want people to come to your site for those particular terms and phrases. You want to rank well in the search engines for them. There can be times when it pays to connect and have multiple terms that you might be targeting simultaneously on the same page. Searcher's intent, think about the person who's performing the search query. You want their search intent to have considerable overlap between the two keywords or three keywords, if you're doing that, to make multi-keyword targeting on a single page viable.
