Best Ecommerce SEO Tips 2019 for a Successful Ecommerce Campaign
1. Avoid Duplicate Content for Product Descriptions
2. User Generated Content (UGC) and Product Reviews
3. Integrate a Blog to Promote Your Ecommerce Products
4. Logical Navigation with Clean URL Structure
5. Optimize Your Ecommerce Site for Long Tail Keywords
6. Optimize Ecommerce Sites for Mobile
7. Site Structure and site interlinking

Internal linking spreads the strength of the site to internal pages. When your website receives a link to the homepage, some of the value of that link is passed on to internal pages. Internal linking with anchor text adds content value to an electronic signal. An internal link is a simple string of HTML that links one website page to another.

A great example of ecommerce site structure & interlinking is indicated in below attached images.

I see your point on duplicate descriptions, but what about machine generated ones, are they better?

Machine Generated/Automatically generated—or "auto-generated"—content is content that's been generated programmatically. In cases where it is intended to manipulate search rankings and not help users, Google may take actions on such content. So, its not better.

For example, when an e-commerce website has thousands of products, and each product requires a description. Is it ok to use automatically generated template text?

Technical SEO Tips To Optimize Your eCommerce Site For Rankings 2019

Preventing Duplicate Content

Duplicate content, pages that are exactly the same with the exception of the URL, is often a huge a problem when it comes to technical e-commerce SEO due to the many filters that e-commerce stores typically have when it comes to products. Choosing variations of a products size, color, quantity, etc.; often times generates a new character within the pages URL string. Google will see this as duplicate content, and you will be able to see as such using a web scraper of your choosing. It's important to fix this for a few reasons. The most salient being that it can have a negative impact on your websites crawl rate and by extension, your websites rankings.
The accumulation of thousands of useless pages generated from filters on your websites product and category pages means that Google is going to spend an inordinate amount of time crawling these useless pages instead of crawling the valuable pages you want to ultimately rank in the search results. You can think of this as "cutting the fat" and making your website "leaner".

You can fix this issue by blocking these pages from Google's crawl via a disallow directive within the robots.txt file of your website, or by applying a canonical tag towards the main URL of the page that you ultimately want to be ranked.

Implement Schema Markup

Click-through rates weigh heavily when it comes to ranking factors, and being able to entice

searchers to click on your page from Google's search results page is particularly important when it comes to e-commerce. This is why you should be implementing JSON-LD schema markup, or "structured data", to your product pages. A schema is nothing more than snippets of code placed on the backend of your product pages to incentive searchers to click on your listing by giving them a "preview" of what's on the page. The type of schema that you want to implement is the "product" schema on your product pages. Doing this can dramatically increase your click-through rate, which will, in turn, increase your sites rankings. You can implement schema by using a plugin with your particular CMS or getting a developer to do it for you.

Rattan11, do you mean setting a canonical to the category page? But then Google won't show particular products in the search results.

Counteracting Duplicate Content :
Copy content, pages that are actually the equivalent except for the URL, is regularly a gigantic an issue with regards to specialized internet business SEO because of the numerous channels that web-based business stores commonly have with regards to items. Picking varieties of an items estimate, shading, amount, and so forth.; in many cases creates another character inside the pages URL string. Google will consider this to copy substance, and you will have the capacity to see in that capacity utilizing a web scrubber based on your personal preference. It's critical to settle this for a couple of reasons. The most striking being that it can negatively affect your sites slither rate and by expansion, your sites rankings.
The collection of thousands of pointless pages created from channels on your sites item and class pages implies that Google will invest an over the top measure of energy creeping these futile pages as opposed to slithering the important pages you need to eventually rank in the indexed lists. You can think about this as "eliminating the excess" and making your site "more slender".
You can settle this issue by hindering these pages from Google's slither by means of a refuse order inside the robots.txt document of your site, or by applying a sanctioned tag towards the principle URL of the page that you eventually need to be positioned.

Execute Schema Markup :
Navigate rates weigh intensely with regards to positioning elements, and having the capacity to lure searchers to tap on your page from Google's list items page is especially critical with regards to web-based business. This is the reason you ought to execute JSON-LD composition markup, or "organized information", to your item pages. The composition is simply scraps of code set on the backend of your item pages to motivating force searchers to tap on your posting by giving them a "see" of what's on the page. The sort of outline that you need to execute is the "item" composition on your item pages. Doing this can significantly build your active clicking factor, which will, thusly, increment your locales rankings. You can execute a diagram by utilizing a module with your specific CMS or motivating a designer to do it for you.
