It represents the percentage of visitors who enter the site and leave the site rather than continue viewing other pages within the same site.

Hello Friends,

Bounce rate is a very important metric for website owners. It basically tells you what percentage of your visitors are "bouncing" away after landing on your site (e.g., they just visit one page and leave before clicking on to a second page inside your site).

There are 2 types of them - one for whole website, one for every page

Bounce rate for whole website is the percentage of visitors that leave your site at once

The second is more interesting:
It's calculated for every page. Like ((the number o visitors left website on page)/(the number o visitors got on page))*100%
In whole it shows how relevant your page is.
It's good when this is high for contacts page or order form. But its bad when its high for landing pages, cause it shows that page is not quite good for visitor and need to change smth.

Additionaly I wanna say that this is very complex parameter. You are to have good experience to use Bounce rate number right.

Hello Friends,

The definition of bounce rate is the percentage of people who arrive on your site and leave without visiting a second page.  More importantly, Bounce Rate was designed to tell you if you have the right audience coming to your pages and if you are meeting their expectations.

Bounce rate is when a visitor visits only a single page of a website and leave that websites without visiting an other page of that website.

1) Web Analytics Bounce Rate

In Web analytics, including Google Analytics, bounce rate is the measurement in percentage of how many Web site visitors view only one page within your Web site – this is the one page they entered the site on (called the entrance page or landing page). These visitors view only that single page and exit the site on that same page. A high bounce rate typically indicates that the landing page isn't relevant to your visitor or you are not offering any incentive for the visitor to explore other areas and pages of your website.
Google recommends that Web site publishers lower bounce rates by tailoring landing pages to each keyword and ad that you run so landing pages consistently provide the information and services that were "promised" in the ad copy.

2) Email Marketing Bounce Rate

In email marketing bounce rate refers to the percentage of email addresses in your subscriber list that didn't receive your message because it was returned by a recipient mail server. There are two categories of email bounces including hard bounce and soft bounce.

I think that is the right answer for the question. I got that.

Understand with simple example:
If you visit any website, you do not like it and redirect to any other website then it is known as bounce rate.
Now if you visit a website, you going to second page of that website and exit from there. Then it is known as Exit rate.

Bounce Rate is a measurement of how many visitors leave a website after visiting only the page they originally landed on. In other words, a bounce occurs when a visitor views only a single page and then leaves without taking any action or viewing any other part of the site.A high bounce rate can be interpreted to mean either that the content is not relevant to its target market or that the site is not attracting its target market effectively. Bounce rates for websites and those for single pages are calculated differently. The bounce rate for a single page is calculated by dividing the number of visitors who entered that page and then bounced by the total number of visitors to that page.
