Hello! I did not see an introduction page, so I will introduce myself here.

I am a plumbing contractor and I've been experimenting with website SEO and how things work.

Here is my problem and  I will appreciate any help.

When I put links on my index.html page I can run a sitemap generator and I notice that every page link appears in the list.

Then, I take the links off of the home page and the sitemap generator does not list the links.

I tried putting the links in a dropdown box on the index.html page and they still do not appear on the sitemap.

I am guessing that if the sitemap cannot pick up the pages then neither will the robots.

I noticed that the sitemap generator lists only links in the index.html page and it does not show links on other pages.

Do I have to create a link from one web page to another.....or?

I have a 2nd question.  Suppose, I put a link on a home page. The robot indexes the page and the keywords, or search term for that page puts that page on the first page in the search results. Then, I remove the link and the web page still appears in the search results. My question is; obviously, the page remains in the search results after the link is removed, but will it repair in the search results, indefinitely? At this time, I am experimenting by putting keywords on the home page and then I remove them after they show up in the search results.

Thank you very much.
Leonard

Your first question is very confusing hence can you elaborate it??

For the second question,
Yes, it will repair in the search engine results when again crawler or bot will come on the page and will catch the page without link.

Thank you for the fast response.

I'll try the question another way.

I tested several different website generators that create sitemaps and the results for every one was the same and this is what I noticed:

Suppose, I have 50 web pages in my website.

The sitemap generator will insert only the links to the 50 pages when the links are on the index.html page.

Put another way. The website generator does not list the links that are not on the index.html page.

This leads me to believe two things; 1) I am doing something wrong, or 2) if the robots see a website the same as my website generator then the web pages will not be indexed.

So, why will a sitemap generator list only the links on the index page and is there a method that assures that the robots are indexing every link in the website, regardless of where the link is.

Thank you very much.

google can find pages even if you don't have any link leading to it
for example google watches navigations with analytics code, or this page is mentioned in other sources
The idea is that if you want google indexing all pages you should help him. Make HTML sitemaps, XML sitemaps, organise good onsite navigation

I have a 2nd question.  Suppose, I put a link on a home page. The robot indexes the page and the keywords, or search term for that page puts that page on the first page in the search results. When you remove the link you loose the weight for the page you linking. Page itself will be indexed anyway, but when new weight will be counted  and applied the position in serp can fall. Of course there are other factors such as behaviour or content actuality...
Experiment is a good thing )
