Whatever sms you have send there are possibilities to take more action compared to any other marketing tool. In sms marketing, there are highly rate of subscription.

I think text messaging is very important for local businesses. It helps to promote your business locally and reach out to people directory on their mobile phones to promote your business.

Although I won't call it a game changer but it certainly can bring in qualified leads if targeted properly. I haven't done SMS marketing but I feel if you send SMS to your target audience then the chances of conversion are higher. Lets understand this with a good and a bad example.

1. I receive daily 3-4 SMS's about Life insurance and all related stuff. I am not at all interested in any of those messages whatsoever. So in this case the SMS are blasted to irrelevant people which don't fall in your target audience.

2. Now consider a situation I am preparing for competitive exams and I receive an SMS about Free workshop related to the exam preparation. In this case I am interested in attending the workshop. and their is a chance that if I like the workshop I may end up joining the institution. So that is a successful conversion
