Alexa for SEO sites
« on: 04-21-2010, 12:29:13 »
I was quite shocked to see today, an Alexa ranked 40k site, managing only 250 unique visitors daily on the extreme tracker and 3.8k uniques monthly in compete!! While there might have been some of manipulation going on, I finally managed to conclude that almost all the visitors there actually are webmasters with that alexa toolbar lol

Found another live example and proof, another blog with 494k , but managing only 20-30 uniques daily.

What do you guys think ?

Do not relate Alexa to SEO. They are like strangers from two different galaxies.

And we have established proof that these rankings can be manipulated. It just gives you a lame idea how good the traffic might be. It is no where accurate. Only thing I like about it is the top 100 or top 10 lists they maintain.

I think it is a bit foolish to pump up page views not organically ESPECIALLY if you have ads up already, this type of practice is unethical and also very easy for ad networks to spot and discontinue partnership with you.

If Alexa can be manipulated then any good website with a good traffic that deserved a better ranking would lose the ranking quite easily.  We have to wait and see.

I think it is a bit outrageous to force up web page views not normally ESPECIALLY if you have ads up already, this way of training is unlawful and also very possible for ad techniques to location and quit connection with you.

If you truly want to monetize online then don't run behind Alexa or Page rank.. i have seen websites with low PR/Alexa but with high sales. I would also like to agree that it isn't an accurate number and it can also be manipulated. However, whatever it is, it doesn't matter at all if you are earning sufficient bucks!

I do not believe much on Alexa rank but if you want Alexa ranking you must have good traffic in your site.

Alexa is not important for seo of a site. Google is more popular and everyone optimize his site according to Google parameters.

I have already organically prevent your ads from appearing on a few particularly high page views stupid, the practice is unethical to stop the flies to detect and work is also very easy to ad networks.

Some how its manageable but what about those sites which are truly  based on web traffic like Ecommercial sites etc? Then we must bother about thta,it show how far we are with our compretitor and what we have to do to bit them.
