It seems like a good concept, the search results of Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask all rolled up into one engine.  Yet the site is currently ranked 2,456 on Alexa, and simply by using it I can tell that the results are mediocre, and other than Ask, all of the search engines it gets results from are better as stand-alone.  Any idea why it's not popular or why it's results aren't as good as you would expect?

Dogpile as the name suggests is a piece of shite! Useless and get's hardly any traffic. Stick to google matey!

Dogpile SE is a meta search-engine, means that it gets end result from numerous search-engines and directories and then shows them shared to the user. Dogpile at present gets its end results from Google, MSN Search, Yahoo, Ask , MIVA, About, Look Smart, and more.

Dogpile is a metasearch engine that fetches results from Google, Yahoo!, Bing and several other popular search engines, including those from audio and video content providers..  I didn't use it but heard lot about this.

I don't really use it because it doesn't seem to be a good thing..

I had the same question when I first heard about dogpile. It seemed a good concept but I think the lack of propaganda and maybe irregular search results problems which have made the search page unfavorable.

Dogpile has been here since 1996 according to Wikipedia. Based on what I've read, it's quite promising but it hasn't actually done a good job.
