Blog domain, or a subdomain?
« on: 05-20-2010, 00:01:54 »
Personally, I prefer subdomains or social networking sites when it comes to blogs. It's not as though I'm famous or useful like the Consumerist.

I too have my subdomains as the blog names. But i was not so specific in having only the sub domains as the domain name. I will also would like to have a blog name in the domain list itself if i am satisfied with it. Also if there is no subdomain involved people would find it rather easy to visit the blog often.

I have my own domain name because I have my own website. I felt that I needed a domain rather than a subdomain because it was more professional. I paid for someone to design my website for me as well because I wanted it to look professional. I have worked for a few people on the internet and a lot of the times they turn out to be scams so I decided to set up my own website and make it work for me instead. In time I am hoping that I will be able to employ people to do genuine work for me because I am fed up of all the jobs promising you something and not delivering.

If you are newbie blogger, better to have a blog domain like blogspot or wordpress. This is to ready yourself for better and advance way of blogging. Once you are well knowledgeable or expert in blogging, you may now buy your own domain for your blog.

It really doesn't matter to start with a sub domain or blog domain, the thing matter is what you are going to publishing? How you use your platform? What kind of content your are producing for your users or your true audience? If you do well, product quality content there is no need to worry, search engine will give to what you need as with sub domain or blog domain.

That what I think.......Hope this will help

Subdomains stand alone so they're good for creating a second top-10 but they need to be SEO'd alone as well so it's double the work.  Assuming you want to get both ranking no matter what eventually, subfolder is the way I'd go.

If you are creating only blog then it should be on home page instead of sub domain!

If you have a website for any purpose then you can create a blog section and do blogging about the product and services you offer.

A rule of thumb, the content should be hosted in lower part of your directory in cpannel for better result from SEO.
