How do .css files work?
« on: 05-16-2014, 12:49:29 »
Im taking a Web Development class, and we are learning html coding. We already made our first site in notepad. Already have the files saved properly also. Now we just learned about CSS files and that they are used to give the site a certain design. I know how to code them, but I dont know how to save them or where to place the code. Whenever, I click the index.html, the style isnt showing up. Can comeone breifly explain the basics of css and how to use them. Examples would be nice, thank you.

You should try inline style which looks like this <style> Your CSS goes here </style>.

But if you have an outside document o modify your already existing index.html you should save the file in the same directory as index.html and search for link rel so you get the perfect idea of what linking an outside file will look like.

Regarding your .css file, it shall be written as a normal CSS code with no html tags.
