Title: Domain Privacy - worth it or not ?
Post by: ryosuzuki on 06-20-2010, 17:34:29
Is it worth purchasing domain privacy when you buy a domain ? I used to buy it but found it was waste of time and money signing up to those services ? Anyone here live by them ?

When I used to own 1 domain it was worthwhile and affordable, but if you have 50 domains, I really don't think it's worth it or affordable. So no not useful really!

Yes !  Domain privacy is one of the  valuable service and it is essential for domains. Because, it helps to prevent registrant personal details from hаckers and  helps to hide their  data from the public view. Each and everyone likes privacy. Do you agree with that? Privacy is most important for our life Likewise it is more important for domains also. I got this service for my domains. Now, my domain info is safe. I have checked it out via Whoisxy.com  and i have found that my private details are hidden in that list.

It makes it slightly more difficult for other marketers to "spy" on your other sites. Meaning if they run a whois search on one of your niche sites, they cannot just instantly see the other 10 niche sites you run. Depending on your business model this is a valuable thing. If you run adsense content sites for example ;-) It really depends...

As with any discussion, it’s good to first touch on what it is we’re talking about. Domain privacy or WHOIS protection (different registrars sometimes refer to it by different names) hides the domain registrant’s personal information from the public WHOIS database.
WHOIS is an organization that manages all data regarding domain registration. All registrant details are considered public information, in addition to the nameservers and other simple details regarding domain registrations (e.g. registration, renewal, and expiry dates).
If someone knows a registered domain name, they can enter it into any WHOIS search tool on the web to retrieve this public information. With privacy protection in place, all of this information becomes masked.
This includes hiding your personal name, address, phone, email, and business name. Instead, a generic registrar-generated information set is displayed.

Yes it is worth if you want to hide your detail information from the internet eye. Other wise you don't need to use it.
