Facebook won't bother converting it to JPG by seeing the .jpg extension and the browsers just "render" the image files ignoring the extension!

To upload an animated GIF on your Facebook wall, follow these steps:

1. Open the Facebook app or go to the Facebook website on your computer.
2. Click on the "What's on your mind?" box at the top of your News Feed or profile.
3. Click on the "Photo/Video" option.
4. Select the animated GIF file you want to upload from your device.
5. Facebook will automatically convert the GIF into a video format. You can add a caption or write something about the GIF if you want.
6. After making any necessary edits, click on the "Post" button to upload the animated GIF to your Facebook wall.

Once the animated GIF is uploaded, it will appear as a video that automatically plays when it is shown on someone's News Feed.
