How to emphasize text for google in Flash?
« on: 05-13-2010, 03:23:21 »
We could read a lot of blogs, forums and articles about how Adobe and Google works together, how Flash Player for Search and the Virtual user works, but i couldn't find anything about how do we make some of our textual content more relevant for the search engine.
In HTML there are the <H1>, <H2> ... tags, but how do we do something similar with Flash applications? Does the fontsize matter, or the contrast to the background, or what?

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Break apart the site. You could rebuild your site, breaking up your Flash file and moving each of the major sections to its own HTML page.

Get smart with separate URLs. Even if you can’t or won’t break apart your Flash file into separate HTML pages, you can still reap the benefits of having separate URLs by implementing SWF Address

Focus on off-page factors. “Off-page” factors, which have nothing to do with the optimization of your on-page content, are a major element of search engine ranking algorithms today.

Take advantage of accessibility features. Your Flash files can be set up with accessibility features to enhance the user experience of disabled site visitors.

Create HTML alternative content. Experts agree an HTML alternative is the best option for Flash SEO today.

Create an HTML addendum. As a last-ditch-scenario, if you don’t wish to – or can’t – get your site to show alternate HTML content, at least create some alternate pages that users can manually click on.

First of all, thanks for the reply!

In this video: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/seo/articles/flash_seo_videos/part04.html
Damien Bianchi says that, it’s a ‘common misconception’ that deeplinking is SEO-friendly and that ‘google doesn’t index anything past the #’
So how is that? Is he wrong? Or just things have changed since Dec 2009?

And how can i avoid loading the site's content each time with separate html-s?

I use the html noscript tag to give an alternative content for users, is that sufficient? Wouldn't be a plain html page duplicate content, for which i will be penalized?
