Domain authority is the measure of domain strength and popularity in search engines. It is a numerical value provided to your domain by Moz and it measures the trust your domain has in search engines. It can be improved by good content update and also by building backlinks from other relevant sources.

Google has it's own metrics to determine the domain trust and authority in a particular niche. Other DA services are just for references which are not 100% accurate in determining a competitors authority in a particular niche. DA metrics from MOZ is easily manipulated (better known as domain authority stacking).

I have heard and read somewhere that in 2016, domain authority is meaning nothing. Google many times changed their algorithm, but Moz remained in a Stone Age.
As the result, in 2016 the Moz metrics are completely meaningless for SEO purpose. Thousands domains with high DA are Google penalized or banned.

I had learned some information about it! Domain Authority score is not a new phrase in the world of SEO, but there are many bloggers who are unaware of domain authority and it's significance. Domain authority is one of the main factors that define how well your website will rank in search engines. Domain authority is a metric which was created by Moz (SaaS company), for the purpose of rating a website on a scale of 1-100, (100 being the best and 1 being the worst). So the higher the domain authority of a website, the higher its ranking in search engines.

Domain Authority (DA) is a metric developed by Moz to estimate a website's overall authority and its ability to rank in search engine results. While it is widely used in SEO practices, it's important to note that Domain Authority is a third-party metric and not directly used by search engines like Google for ranking purposes.

The future of Domain Authority is uncertain. Search engines continuously update their algorithms, making it challenging for any single metric to accurately predict a website's ranking ability. Furthermore, there has been a growing emphasis on user experience, content quality, and other factors that influence search rankings. These changes may diminish the significance of DA in the future.

However, Domain Authority can still provide valuable insights when comparing websites or evaluating potential link opportunities. It serves as a relative measure of a site's authority within a specific niche, but it should not be the sole determinant of a website's SEO strategy. It's essential to focus on a comprehensive approach that considers multiple ranking factors, including relevance, user experience, content quality, and backlink profile, among others.

In recent years, search engines have shifted their focus towards user-centric metrics, such as user engagement, dwell time, mobile-friendliness, and page load speed. These factors play a significant role in determining a website's ranking in search results.

While Domain Authority may still hold some relevance in the SEO landscape, it is essential to understand that search engines evaluate websites based on various complex algorithms. Therefore, relying solely on Domain Authority might not provide a complete picture of a website's ranking potential.

To stay competitive in the ever-evolving SEO industry, it is recommended to focus on creating high-quality, relevant, and engaging content that meets the needs of your target audience. Building a strong backlink profile, improving website speed, and optimizing for mobile devices are also crucial for maintaining a competitive edge in search rankings.

Ultimately, the future of Domain Authority will depend on how search engines evolve their ranking algorithms. As the industry continues to advance, it is advisable to adapt and incorporate multiple ranking factors into your SEO strategy to maximize your chances of success.

Technical Definition of Domain Authority. Domain Authority is Moz's calculated metric for how well a given domain is likely to rank in Google's search results. It is based off data from the Mozscape web index and includes link counts, MozRank and MozTrust scores, and dozens of other factors.

Domain Authority is a score (on a 100-point scale) developed by Moz that predicts how well a website will rank on search engines. Use Domain Authority when comparing one site to another or tracking the "strength" of your website over time. We calculate this metric by combining all of our other link metrics—linking root domains, number of total links, MozRank, MozTrust, etc.—into a single score.

It's best to use Domain Authority (DA) as comparative metrics when doing research in the search results and determining which sites/pages may have more powerful/important link profiles than others. While specific metrics like MozRank can answer questions of raw link popularity—and link counts can show the raw quantities of pages/sites linking—the authority numbers are high-level metrics that attempt to answer the question, "How strong are this page's links in terms of helping them rank for queries in Google.com?"  !-!

DA is still working in SEO. I can see it on MOZ bar!
