Hi,

Google has announced these two update in April 2012, Google panda and Google penguin both are punish those websites that are cheat with search engines and getting high rank on SERP. There is quite difference between panda and penguin like Google panda is about to penalize low quality websites with poor/copy content and Google penguin is about to penalize website that are over optimized with spam links, keyword stuffing, use bad techniques.

Thanks

Google constantly Updating Its search algorithm for showing relevant results to their Users queries. SO Google Published Google Panda and Penguin algo. update to downgrade low quality websites. Panda is about targeting Scraped or duplicate content publishing on websites. Getting low links from low quality sites and exchanging links only for passing link juice to manipulate SERP is penalized by Google. Stop getting links from low quality sites, non niche sites, Google penalized pages.

Google panda was introduced to work against content duplication. Google penguin fights against unnatural link building, spamming, keyword stuffing etc...

Google panda relates with contents means not to copy content of website and copy-scape helps in that matter to find out the duplicate content.
Google penguin relates with keywords means not to over optimize only on single keyword but promote the sites with some other few keywords.

Google Panda has removed all the links which stayed steady on the webpages since a ling time. Google Penguin update affects the low quality content. It affects the page rank a lot. I am working in the Higher Than Ltd. and we have a team of professional content writers so these algorithms can't affect our websites.

Google Panda are basically based on content spamming in the website , in which if google find the duplicate content on your website then google penalize your website and decrease the search engine ranking.

Google Penguine are basically based on Web spam on the website, when promote your website on search engine and google finds the black hat technique, black hat seo in your website then google decrease your ranking in the search engine and penalize your website.

Well, the both algorithms are purely enhance the quality of Google. Google Penguin prevents low quality link building and spamming techniques while Google Panda targets spun and duplicate content of website. It means quality work is one of the best way to promote our website in Search Engine.

websearchseo

This is from an seo course that I have read:

***Panda***

- duplication of content internally and externally
- lazy spinning

Indications:

- sitewide rank drop
- fall in traffic
- PR 0 to PR N/A

***Penguin***

- improper anchor text usage

Indications:

page rank drops
rankings went lower but not gone
the homepage is mostly affected
changes tied to an algo update release

hope this helps!

Google Panda:

1)  Penalize websites of low quality and those with low quality content. It is first introduced in 24th February, 2011
2) Panda had over 24 updates till March 2013
3) Panda is basically an on-page problem, so the main changes need to be on the website
4)  It is possible that an entire site is affected through panda. Usually single pages of a website are not targeted in the algorithm

Google Penguin
1) Bring down websites that violate Google's Webmaster Guidelines and use  black-hat SEO techniques
2) Penguin had just three updates since its launch in April last year.
3)Check for the links to find if there are from the same domain name or IP address, so that links don't look like purchased.
4) Penguin generally affects one part of the website on a page and keyword level.
