Google Search Console
« on: 03-08-2021, 23:54:17 »
I want to say that I like it. I like it a lot. I am waiting for more data to accumulate. But, I am excited for this tool to tell me what backlinks I have as per Googlebot searches. Search Console is also within a few weeks going to integrate Search Console data and Google Analytics. I just started using both but I like this integration of data - both run analysis on the same property, so why not incorporate using the shared data between them. I used Google Webmaster Tools but Google Search Console to me is where it is at. They will have to adapt Analytics a bit I believe but I am looking for to it.

I am not sure when Google Search Console came into effect but I am seeing it as a replacement to Google Webmaster Tools. I haven't done webmastering in a while, so when I recently began promoting my blog I was surprised to have stumbled upon it. I am wondering what others think of it as I am new to this interface and how it works. Google Webmaster Tools no longer exists; it is now called Google Search Console. I guess I am curious to know peoples' experiences with it. Thanks.

Google Search Console is a web service by Google which allows webmasters to check indexing status and optimize visibility of their websites. Until 20 May 2015, the service was called Google Webmaster Tools. In January 2018, Google introduced a new version of the search console, with changes to the user interface.

Google Search Console is a free service offered by Google that helps you monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot your site's presence in Google Search results. You don't have to sign up for Search Console to be included in Google Search results, but Search Console helps you understand and improve how Google sees your site.

Search Console offers tools and reports for the following actions:

Confirm that Google can find and crawl your site.
Fix indexing problems and request re-indexing of new or updated content.
View Google Search traffic data for your site: how often your site appears in Google Search, which search queries show your site, how often searchers click through for those queries, and more.
Receive alerts when Google encounters indexing, spam, or other issues on your site.
Show you which sites link to your website.
Troubleshoot issues for AMP, mobile usability, and other Search features.

Show you which sites link to your website.
This is what I am most interested in knowing. This also seems to be the data that is taking the longest to tabulate for me in Google Search Console. Some backlinks had started appearing, but now it shows none. I know this is a dynamic process but I know I have more backlinks than 0. My pages are indexed so I am not worried about that. I like how Google Search Console looks but I'll take the information it provides with a grain of salt.  No errors found though. Some pages have been excluded from index because of canonical links.
