How would you setup, track, and analyze if a campaign was a success?

It depends on the platform you run the campaign.
But before starting a campaign, you should make a plan with detailed activities and KPI. It could be the number of views, shares, comments or application forms.

If its strictly an SEO campaign for rankings, use a rank tracker. If you are only focusing on SEO, that's all that matters.

Most companies have a marketing department that works on the website itself. If you don't have control over those aspects of the work than what you are doingis only one piece of the puzzle. Iron out your scope of work before going into contact on a job.

Most importantly the campaign has objectives to be reached hence success can be achieve only when these objectives have been set, along with measure indicators. As a short example, the marketer's goal is to drive visit on the new product's web page and then engage consumers with relevant content to learn about it and eventually place an order online or via a toll free number.
