Hi all. I am not new to SEO but something stopped me dead in my tracks.

I have come across a website that has no relevant keywords in their content, pretty much no back links and their content is mediocre at best.
Yet they continue to rank no matter which variation of the keywords used.
I checked their source page, and they are stuffing the meta keyword section with hundreds of keywords  (just a few main keywords with a heck load of variations to that keyword).
Now my question is, what am I missing? THey should not be ranking ..

I cant see any other way than age of the domain and the keyword stuffing in the meta

Any insight?

Google has mentioned they no longer utilize meta keyword tags in their algorithm for search rankings. Google did say that they will not guarantee any perminence in this decision in that there is no promise that it will never be used again, however, they did say it was highly unlikely they will use meta tags as a deciding factor in the future.

They are probably blocking backlink tools with robots.txt.

I don't have exact data but I haven't seen meta keywords effecting rankings either so I'd agree on that end.

The meta keywords tag is one of several of meta tags that you can insert into your web pages to provide search engines with information about your pages that isn't visible on the page itself.

Meta keywords are no longer used by Google or Bing to determine a site's ranking, so don't overthink meta keywords. Smaller search engines still might use them in their algorithm, so we recommend adding them anyway. They are invisible to site visitors both on your site on in the search engines.

Hmm, like everyone said, I don't think meta keywords will work. Most of the sites nowadays can rank up without using meta keywords so I don't think it's necessary. So probably they used some tools to block tracking bot. Other reason can be that they're using some sort of private network to rank up their sites.

No discussion about Meta Keywords because meta keywords are banned by google

I'm sure a month ahead of their rankings are much mired in your content  ;)

Meta keywords are no longer used by Google or Bing to determine a site's ranking.
And remember that Content is KING, no matter what. If your contents were really good and had 'Insane" traffic, you would be on top :D

Direct Traffic is the main factor. if you are popular enough like online shopping sites Flipkart and Amazon, Google doesn't care about SEO because they have thousands of daily visitors so google will give them high priority and they will be on top.
