I have a manufacturing business and produce product that we sell in both USA and Canada.  We have one location in Canada and one location in USA and both have GMB pages for them.

For the past 3 years I have had 2 websites with the purpose of thinking .com is needed to rank in USA and .ca is best for ranking in Canada.  As well my prices are different for the 2 countries and I want to be sure people are looking at the correct product/pricing for their country.
My rankings for .ca are very good for ranking in Canada.
My rankings for .com are not as good for ranking in USA (rank 6-7 for important keywords).  My .com site also ranks in Canada at about 6-7.

I am curious about switching to only one domain (.com) for both sites as I wondering if I am diluting things and harming my 'brand name' across both sites.  I don't want to lose my high Canadian rankings. Also not sure how to direct people to proper pages at site for pricing etc.

Any thoughts?

Hi,

My suggestion is you can create a subdomain for each location.
Eg: www.us.example.com and www.ca.example.com or www.example.com/us and www.example.com/ca.
Thanks
Steve Good

There is no need to separate the sites for USA and Canada you can create site pages within the website by implementing .com/ca for Canada.

There is seriously no need of creating two different website. Because you to rework all the things for other website.
For example -
Case 1:- You work hard for one website and increase its Domain Authority to 40 and you have a website 2 which has a Domain authroity of 20. So second one will definitely suffer.

Case 2 :- You have just 1 website and you work for it and increase the Domain authority to 40. So all the pages on that website would get benefitted from it.

So it is highly recommended to have 1 website with different pages and high quality content .

Note - In one website what you can do is you can add 2 addresses on website - one for USA and one for Canada. Because in this case Local Citation matters. When google reads it will save 2 different office addresses in Cache one for us and other for canada. and it would be easy to get ranked in particular demographic.

That relies upon your business necessities. Since the Language will be the equivalent for the two nations, I would propose a solitary site with subfolders for every nation.

Thusly if there is a need, you can generally target more nations later on

I do not find any language difference between the USA and Canada, the difference is just speaking accents. So have a strong site with a subfolder. About rankings in the USA, make a note that you have to complete with the world there. Since all the sites are by default hosted there due to great infrastructure available in America than any other developed country.
