The key to improving the ranking of your website is by having an on-page and off-page online strategy. Let me explain.
1. On-Page Factors
For each web page you need to have a distinct keyword phrase that you want to rank for. By doing this you increase your chance's of getting that page indexed and ranked for your particular keyword.
To do this, you should make sure of a few items:
- Include your keyword in the H1 Title tags
- Include your keyword in the first and last sentence of your web page
- Include your keyword in the title of the web page
- Include your keyword throughout the web page - but don't over do it because it will look spammy
- Create inner page links to other pages within your site with different variations of your keyword
2. Off-Page Factors
Off-page factors is all about link building. But be careful, because if you do this incorrectly you will get penalized by the search engines. The key here is to build links that look natural and organic. Never build more than 40-100 links per day.
Your first step is to create links from a variety of sources. I would suggest building links in the following order:
- Create links from video sites (youtube; metacafe, vimeo, dailymotion etc.)
- Create links from press release sites (prweb, pressеxposure, sbwire, prfriend, etc.)
- Create links from article directory sites (ezinearticles, articlealley, articlebase, buzzle)
- Create links from Web 2.0 sites (squidoo, weebly, tumblr, livejournal, wetpaint, zimbio, gather, jimbo, tripod, etc.)
- Create links form profile sites (ryze, helium, threadless, dipity, sitejabber)
- Create lines from blogs (go to blogcatalog.com and search for blogs that relate to your web page)
Your second step is to Ping each link that you built so that the search engines can identify the link back to your site.
Just rinse and repeat this process with a variety of websites and over time your rankings will improve. Remember getting links is a process and you should not rush it or else you will find your website de-indexed.
