The Google Page Rank value relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the Internet by using its vast global link structure as a prime indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives. It also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves important or are favorably viewed as "established firms" in the Web community weigh more heavily and help to make other pages look established too.

Forget about page rank as Google has stopped updating your page rank algorithm since the past couple of years. They are more concentrated in removing spam and ranking good websites higher in their search results.

I can't explain it step bye step just I am providing below the basic behind it :
If there are some website:
A,B,C,D.
If website A get a baclink from B,C,D. Then PR of A increased respectively according to PR of B,C,D. If the link is no follow then the website A can't get link juice from these website and there will no increment in to PR of website of A. While if the link is do follow, there will be a few loss in PR of B,C and D and respectively a great increment in PR of A.

The damping factor d, which is the click-through probability, is included to prevenr sinks (i.e. pages with no outgoing links) from "absorbing" the PageRanks of those pages connected to the sinks. It is easy to see that an infinite surfer would have  to end up in a sink given enough time, so the damping factor allows a heuristic to offset th eimportance of those sinks. That is why the first term  of the PageRank equation, (1-d)/N, is included. It is the chance of being on a random page after restart, while the second term is normalized so that all PageRanks sum to one.

Google's PageRank algorithm is an algorithm used by Google Search to rank websites in their search engine results. It was developed by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin at Stanford University. PageRank assigns a numerical value to every webpage on the internet, representing its importance and relevance. The algorithm considers factors such as the number and quality of incoming links from other webpages to determine a webpage's authority and popularity. Websites with higher PageRank scores are considered more reliable and are more likely to appear at the top of search results.

Google PageRank algorithm is a complex and dynamic formula that evaluates the importance of webpages based on various factors. While the exact details of the algorithm are not publicly disclosed, here are some key aspects:

1. Backlinks: PageRank considers the number and quality of links pointing to a webpage. A webpage with many high-quality backlinks tends to have a higher PageRank score.

2. Link Relevance: The relevance of the linking webpage plays a role in PageRank calculation. A backlink from a relevant and authoritative source carries more weight than one from an unrelated or low-quality source.

3. Crawl Depth: Pages that are closer to the homepage of a website tend to have higher PageRank scores. Google's crawlers may assign more importance to pages that are more easily accessible.

4. Internal Linking: The way webpages within a site link to each other also influences PageRank. Proper internal linking helps distribute ranking authority across a website.

5. User Behavior: While not explicitly confirmed, user behavior metrics like click-through rates, bounce rates, and time spent on a page may indirectly impact PageRank. Google aims to deliver the most relevant and engaging results to users.

It's worth noting that the PageRank algorithm has evolved over time, and Google now relies on numerous other factors, such as semantic relevance, user intent, site and page quality, and more, to determine search rankings.

What Is PageRank Alogrithm ?
PR Alogrithm is a calculation, famously invented by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, which evaluates the quality and quantity of links to a webpage to determine a relative score of that page's importance and authority on a 0 to 10 scale.

how can backlinks help or hurtThe handful of PageRank 10 domains, including USA.gov, Twitter.com and Adobe Reader Download, have the highest volume of inbound links of any sites on the web.

The top sites set the bar, so to speak, and the 10-point scale plummets exponentially down from there.

PageRank 5 websites have a good number of inbound links, PR 3 and PR 4 sites have a fair amount, and brand new websites without any inbound links pointing to them start at PageRank 0.

NOTE: You may be curious what your site's or your competitor's PR score is. But Google no longer reveals the PageRank score for websites. It used to display at the top of web browsers right in the Google Toolbar, but no more. And PR data is no longer available to developers through APIs, either. Even though it's now hidden from public view, however, PageRank remains an important ingredient in Google's secret ranking algorithms.

Since Google wants to return page one results that are high quality, relevant, and trustworthy, it may return webpages with better PageRank scores higher up in the SERPs, although PageRank is only one of many ranking factors taken into consideration.

Since PageRank is only one factor in the Google ranking algorithm, it's important to remember that a high PageRank does not guarantee high rankings — but it can significantly help.
