Hello -

I have been working on my site since past 1 year.
Have been tracking on my links in majesticseo.

Can someone help me understand:
1. why is that the links get deleted from my site profile.
2. Are these usually links make by bots or even manual links get dropped over a period of time.

Thanks

1. There could be various reasons why links get deleted from your site profile in MajesticSEO. One possibility is that the websites that were linking to your site may have been shut down or their pages may have been removed, resulting in the loss of those links. Another reason could be that the website owners or administrators manually removed the links. Additionally, it's possible that the search engine algorithms made changes and reevaluated the quality and relevance of the linking websites, leading to the removal of some links.

2. Links can be deleted for different reasons, regardless of whether they were created by bots or manually. Bots can create automated links as part of spam or black hat SEO techniques, which are against search engine guidelines. If such links are detected, search engines may penalize or remove them. However, manual links can also be subject to changes over time. Website owners may decide to remove links due to changes in their website content, partnerships, or other business considerations. Moreover, search engines continuously update their algorithms to improve the quality of search results, so links that were once considered relevant and valuable may not meet the criteria anymore and can be dropped.

more information:

1. Why links get deleted from a site profile can vary. It could be due to the linking website shutting down, removing or redirecting their pages, or making changes to their content that no longer makes your link relevant. It could also be a result of search engine algorithm updates that reevaluate the quality and relevance of links. In some cases, website owners or administrators manually remove links for various reasons such as restructuring their site, updating partnerships, or changing content.

2. Both bot-generated and manually created links can be subject to removal. Bots can generate spammy or low-quality links that violate search engine guidelines, and when these links are detected, search engines may penalize or remove them. Manual links, on the other hand, can also be subject to removal over time. Website owners may remove links due to changes in their business, partnerships, or other considerations. Furthermore, search engines constantly update their algorithms, which may result in the reevaluation of previously acceptable links, leading to their removal.

here's some additional information:

1. When links get deleted from your site profile, it could be due to various reasons like the linking website shutting down, changing their content, or removing the page that had the link. It's also possible that the link was removed by the website owner, either manually or as a result of cleaning up their site's links. Additionally, search engines regularly update their algorithms, which can lead to the reevaluation and removal of certain links.

2. Links can be created by both bots and humans, and both types can potentially get dropped over time. Bots can create automated links as part of spammy or low-quality tactics, and when search engines detect these unnatural links, they may take action and remove them. Manual links, even if they were initially created by a person, can still be subject to changes. Website owners may decide to remove links for various reasons, such as changes in partnerships, content restructuring, or shifting business priorities. Furthermore, search engine algorithms are dynamic and constantly evolving, so what was once considered a valuable link might no longer meet the criteria and be dropped.

To ensure a healthy link profile, it's important to focus on building high-quality, organic, and relevant links. Stay updated with the latest SEO guidelines, monitor your backlink profile regularly, and proactively address any issues that arise to maintain a strong link profile for your site.

Some of the link building site use to review the site regularly if they find any of the post irrelevant to their they drop them so i suggest try to make content relevant to the site you are posting to so that it won't get dropped.

Many factors like bad quality of contents of website, irrelevant data related to site tends to get dropped in ranking, some time due to sudden updation in google or other site, like current penguin updation also cause drop in ranking.

Just to be absolutely clear, if you are dropping links to your site in other people's forums in the hope of gaming search engines, then that's considered web-spam and can be taking into account by both our algorithms and our manual web-spam teams. It doesn't matter how much "PR" the other site has, it doesn't matter if it's a .gov forum -- what you're doing would be considered web-spam by us.

There are some common reasons why links can be dropped:
- Google Standbox effect started;
- Algorithm updates
- Malware
- server issues
- robot.txt file problems
- penalization
-  broken links
- duplicate content
- the Google Dance

There are several reasons why links drop such as poor or irrelevant content, Irrelevant niche submissions, submissions that has expiry dates(Classifed Ads/Business Listings), bypassing rules and regulations of websites where you have submitted the content. temporary link submissions, the page does not exist where. Low authoritative websites submissions(these websites don't have long life).
There some other things such as Google updates, Malware detection, robots.txt error.
Avoid these things and get permanent links.

1. You're tracking the wrong rankings: In recent years there has been a shift toward "natural language" when it comes to searches, that is, people typing, or increasingly speaking, complete sentences into search engines, rather than just a few keywords.
2. The Google "dance": It's normal for rankings to fluctuate. Not just from one day to the next, but from one computer to another, one location to another, and based on a host of other variables.
3. New website: If you launch a new design for an existing website you can expect your rankings to drop, regardless of what you do to prepare for that launch, and regardless of how much better the new website is, in terms of SEO, than the old one.
4. New website no longer: You launched a redesigned website to replace an old one and the rankings went down, then came back up quickly, even higher than they were before, and now they've gone back down slightly.

There may be many reasons for why do links get dropped, As some Webmasters change their Blogs URL, remove URL so some links get dropped.

We normally come across such situations almost every few months.

One of my friend (who is a local business owner) was doing fine with organic traffic and rankings. But one day I got a call from him stating they are losing Google traffic and rankings from past few days for reasons unknown to him. After evaluating the website, I came to know that they recently made some coding development and their developers by mistake set their homepage as the default canonical URL for every single page on the website.

We set that to original URLs and within 2-3 weeks they were back to normal. Sometimes, we unknowingly commit mistakes which we could have avoided. :)

Thanks
