Using sitemaps has many benefits, not only easier navigation and better visibility by search engines. Sitemaps offer the opportunity to inform search engines immediately about any changes on your site.

Sitemaps can even help with messy internal links - for instance, if you by accident have broken internal links or orphaned pages that cannot be reached in another way (though there is no doubt that it is much better to fix your errors than rely on a sitemap).

Sitemaps also help in classifying your site content, though search engines are by no means obliged to classify a page as belonging to a particular category or as matching a particular keyword only because you have told them so.

A sitemap is a file where you can list the web pages of your site to tell Google and other search engines about the organization of your site content. Search engine web crawlers like Googlebot read this file to more intelligently crawl your site.

A sitemap does help Google to lead its crawlers through your site, therefore saving crawling budget, though. But a lack of a sitemap is not fatal.

A sitemap is an XML file that contains all the URLs of the website's web pages. This file helps the crawlers to find all the pages.  Also, by submitting a sitemap to GSC you can easily check indexing status and many other important things.

The sitemap is the very first thing need to do to fetch the website URL after uploading the site to the server. It is also good if you do the SITEMAP submission after doing on-page changes for your website.

Simply stated, a sitemap file contains all the URLs of your blog, and you submit that file to search engines to let them know about all the pages of your blog. Search engine bots follow sitemap files to crawl and index your website. You can learn more about crawling and indexing here.
