Dear Friends,

What are the major differences between Crawling, Indexing and Caching?

Caching is the process or reading through your webpage source by search engine spiders. They provide a cache certificate after a successful crawl. Indexing is updating the cached webpages in search engine database. Indexed webpages are now ready for search engine rankings.

Crawling is the process of Googlebot (Software) finding/scan new updated content/images/videos etc. on websites and information sends back to Google.
Indexing is the processing of the information gathered by the Googlebot from its crawling activities. Once documents are processed, they are added  to Google's searchable index if they are determined to be quality content. During indexing, the Googlebot processes the words on a page and where those words are located.   Information such as title tags and ALT attributes are also analyzed durign indexing.
Caching: Googlebot took a shapshot of webpages are updated in the last visit or crawl, whenever website goes down/not yet indexed latest changes made in the website at the time it will shows the last version which was saved.

Crawling means Google sends its spiders to your website..
Indexing means Google visited your website and has added you to its database..
Caching means Google takes a snapshot of your website when it visits it and stored the data in case your website went down or if there are some any other issues.

In day to day example an explorer was sent to explore a territory then the explorer is the crawler and the map, or the notes that the Explorer made is the index whereas cache is the compass that can be used for quick reference.

Crawling is vising a website by search engines and get information that includes Content, Description & keywords and indexing is making database of the information that has been collected by crawler.

Indexing is the result of successful crawling. I consider a URL to be indexed (by Google) when an info: or cache: query produces a result, signifying the URL's presence in the Google index.

Caching is a technology used with the memory subsystem of your computer. The main purpose of a cache is to accelerate your computer while keeping the price of the computer low. Caching allows you to do your computer tasks more rapidly.

Crawling is the process performed by search engine crawler, when searching for relevant websites on the index. For instance, Google is constantly sending out spiders or bots which are a search engine's automatic navigator to discover which websites contain the most relevant information related to certain keywords.
