Hello friends,

I want to ask you about the purpose of tags on a website. Do we really need to write them for every single post and what is the limit? How many tags for a post are too many? Thanks!
Keep learning!

Tags are nothing but the related categories you want your blog or any piece of content to be visible when searched for similar terms. The limitations of number of tags you can add depend on sites you are submitting them to.

Tags or Meta tags are snippets of text that describe content of a page, Google opted tags out of the ranking factors because people started abusing their use in getting on top of the SERPs. But Meta tags still play quite a big role in your site's SEO as Google validate their relativity to your content and site niche.

Well this is your own choice and there is no specific limit.

In digital marketing and online advertising, a tag is a snippet of JavaScript or HTML code added to a page, typically to implement third-party marketing tools (such as web analytics, A/B testing, surveys, live chat etc.), tracking (such as conversion tracking, impression pixel etc.) or data collection/sharing.

Sometime a tracking tag is just a 1x1 pixel invisible image HTML tag (<img>), and then it is often referred to as a pixel. E.g. impression pixel, tracking pixel, conversion pixel etc.

Tags (or pixels) are often used to share the data between different advertising and marketing technology vendors which compromises online privacy.

Tags used to be implemented on the websites by web developers, but with the growing need to add, alter, or remove them by marketers almost on daily basis, a new category of marketing tools emerged: Tag Management Systems (TMS), commonly known as Tag Managers (examples: Piwik PRO Tag Manager, or Google Tag Manager) that allow marketers to manage all their tags without the help from IT departments.

A tag is a keyword or phrase that you add to the entries you post to your journal or community to make it easy for you to find them again, or to help you place them into a specific category for organization purposes. You can enter your entry keywords in the box marked "Tags" at the bottom of your "Post an Entry" page.

Meta Tags have been one of the  most basic elements of SEO. It is a must to know for every SEO practitioner. Are meta tags a factor in Google page rank? Is it important? What effect does it have in your site's SEO?

Meta tags have been around since... Since I can remember. They have been a big part in search engine history. They were valued as a factor in rankings before – until people started abusing their use in getting on top of the SERPs. After that, Google opted meta tags out of the ranking factors. But that doesn't mean they're not important anymore. Meta tags still play quite a big role in your site's SEO.

Meta tags are the words that are hidden in your code. People browsing your site will just not be able to see them. It is, as Danny Sullivan puts it, a 'legal' way of hiding words in your webpages for search engines. The search engines still read them for it to have a simple, summarized idea of what your site is about and what exactly your keywords are.

Meta tags are located inside your html's head area.

Tags are generally used to classify content in a way that is useful for the reader and easy for search engines to understand, which potentially makes them incredibly important for both SEO and usability.

A web tag or website tag is a tool used to gather data on a website. This tag is a piece of JavaScript code, a small pixel, or a transparent image that enables the collection of unique information about a person and on-site behaviors across an organization's digital properties.

Tags are nothing but the related categories you want your weblog or any piece of content to be visible while looking for similar terms. The barriers of some of the tags you may upload rely upon websites you're submitting them to.

Google Publisher Tags, is an ad tagging library with which you can dynamically build ad requests. GPT takes key details from you such as ad unit code, ad size, and key-values, builds the request, and displays the ad on web pages or mobile apps
