The Google AdWords program enables you to create advertisements which will appear on relevant Google search results pages and our network of partner sites. The Google AdSense program differs in that it delivers Google AdWords ads to individuals' websites. Google then pays web publishers for the ads displayed on their site based on user clicks on ads or on ad impressions, depending on the type of ad.

Hope this one helps. :)

Google Ad-words is a platform which allows you(as a advertiser) to create ads which appears in google search results (on relevant search which you need to set while creating an ad campaign) and it's partner network.

whereas Google Ad-sense is a platform for blog owner (website owner) which you can use as publisher. You need to register and approve your website in order to enable this option. If you're approved google gives you a piece of code which you need to embed into your website in order to show ads and now when a user clicks on that ad from your website, you get paid

Google AdWords is a platform in which you can pay to advertise on Google search results and their partner websites to feature your website, usually based on a cost-per-click or CPM basis.
Google AdSense is a program that allows blog and website owners to open up advertising space on their website that Google will use to display ads in, Google will then pay you for having the ad space on your website or blog based on how many impressions/ ad clicks are received on the ad within your website.
