Structured data is added directly to a page's HTML markup. Search engines use structured data to generate rich snippets, which are small pieces of information that will then appear in search results.

Hi

Structured data is code in a specific format, written in such a way that search engines understand it. Search engines read the code and use it to display search results in a specific and much richer way. You can easily put this piece of code on your website.

Structured data is a standardized format used to organize and provide additional context to the information on a web page. It helps search engines understand the content of a webpage more clearly, enabling them to display that information in a more helpful and relevant way in search results.

Structured data uses specific vocabulary, called schema markup, to label and describe elements on a webpage. This can include things like product details, ratings, reviews, business information, events, recipes, and many other types of content.

By implementing structured data, website owners make it easier for search engines to interpret their content. This improves the visibility of their pages in search results and can result in enhanced search engine optimization (SEO) benefits.

When search engines understand the meaning and context of your content better, they can display rich snippets, knowledge panels, and other enhanced search results, providing users with more engaging and informative search experiences. Structured data also helps search engines connect related information across different pages, which can further boost SEO by establishing website authority and relevance.

here are some additional details about the importance of structured data for SEO:

1. Enhanced Visibility: Implementing structured data can help your web pages stand out in search results. In addition to the standard blue link and meta description, search engines can display rich snippets that include additional information like ratings, reviews, and pricing. These rich snippets catch the user's attention and can increase click-through rates to your website.

2. Increased Relevance: Structured data provides search engines with more context about your content, making it easier for them to determine its relevance to a user's search query. This can lead to higher rankings in search results, as search engines better understand the specific topics and entities covered on your web pages.

3. Improved User Experience: By using structured data, you can enhance the user experience by providing more specific and detailed information about your content. This helps users quickly find relevant information directly from the search results, without having to click through multiple pages. It also allows search engines to present your content in visually engaging formats like knowledge panels or carousels.

4. Voice Search Optimization: With the rise of voice assistants like Siri, Google Assistant, and Alexa, structured data becomes even more important. When users ask voice queries, search engines rely heavily on structured data to provide accurate and concise answers. By implementing structured data, you can optimize your content for voice search and increase the chances of being featured in voice search results.

5. Better Mobile Experience: Mobile searches have surpassed desktop searches, and structured data can improve the mobile user experience. By providing clear and organized information through structured data, search engines can display your content in a mobile-friendly format, ensuring that it is easily accessible and readable on smaller screens.

details about the importance of structured data for SEO:

1. Rich Results: Structured data can enable your website to appear in rich results, which are visually appealing and informative search results that include additional elements such as images, star ratings, and review snippets. Rich results have higher visibility and can attract more clicks from users.

2. Knowledge Graph: Implementing structured data can help search engines populate their knowledge graph, which is a database of interconnected information about people, places, organizations, and various entities. When your website contains structured data that matches the knowledge graph, it increases the chances of your content being featured prominently in search results.

3. Local SEO: For businesses with a physical presence, structured data can greatly benefit local SEO efforts. By including location-specific structured data on your website, search engines can better understand your business's address, opening hours, contact details, and other relevant information. This can improve your chances of appearing in local search results and map listings.

4. Indexing Efficiency: Search engines use bots or crawlers to understand and index web pages. However, they have limited resources and may not be able to crawl and understand every page on your website. By implementing structured data, you provide clear signals to search engines about the most important elements on your page. This helps search engine crawlers efficiently index and understand your content, ensuring that it appears in relevant search results.

5. Cross-platform Compatibility: Structured data is not only beneficial for search engine optimization but also for cross-platform compatibility. It can make your content more accessible and understandable to different devices, such as voice assistants, mobile apps, and other platforms beyond traditional search engines.

Structured data is just more html or JSON+LD you add to your page to define more information.
Do you need it? No.
Can it help SEO? Only product, review and maybe some podcast, or event schema gives various kinds of boosts. You can't have any errors, or it does not really help.
Would I bother with it? Only if the main SEO stuff you are supposed to do is done already.
