Hi,

My website is targeting whole country. It's not location related. We dont have offices but we serve the whole nation. We dont have pages to cover multiple cities.

For one specific keyword, we used to rank in multiple locations but now we are ranking only on few locations (first page) and in other locations, we are not ranking at all.  But the keywords are not location-related.

Why the same page optimized for same keyword ranking first page in few locations and not ranking in some locations.

Thanks

You need to specify all the interesting locations on your page with keywords. It can be cities, districts, streets. Anything you need. And, of course, the keywords should be on the page. Locations can be specified optionally next to the keyword.

All the content of your web page should be designed both to inform users about your business, product or service and to improve your SEO positioning. Make sure that the contents include the keywords in a very accurate and natural way, in the descriptive and explanatory texts. Thus, you will have more opportunities to position yourself for those words. Think about how all the sections of your website can be worked using keywords, and based on it draw a writing plan or hire a web content specialist company for SEO positioning that can help you.

If you want to target any particular city then please add it into the keyword. But if you don't want to target any specific city then it would be much harder to get that keyword on the first page because there will be more competition. Hence will required to work more on backlink submission. Hope it helps!!

Yes, you said right. You must be build more backlinks from niche sites if you won't target location keywords.

For this purpose you will need to add those cities for which you want to rank in the meta title, meta description and in the article or post content. Then it will be more easy to rank as compared to trying without placing cities keywords in all those important areas. You can use off page seo techniques with City keywords in which you want to rank in search results.
