Just don't get a lot of DF links from the same domain that's a sure penalty in the future. Make sure you don't make the same type of links that's unnatural. Keep your NF links count more than the NF ones. Find niche blog, forum, news links if you can. That's about it.

Its best to follow 10:90 or 20:80 rule.

The 10 or 20 part of the ratio is the content/time/effort you do on your website/content (Called ON-Site or ON-page SEO) and the 90 or 80 is the content/time/effort you give off to your website/content (Called OFF-Site or OFF-page SEO).

In short every time you publish a content on your website you should at latest 9 backlinks no matter you do email outreach, guest post, roundup or any other link building tactics. (Considering that domains are authoritative and related to your niche).

You get the picture now i guess :)

And yeah in case you are looking to build links to a product or service page you should go with internal link as much as possible. Because Its really hard to get such backlinks for a product or services unless its something like Ubersuggest.
I love you 3000 times  :D

The Primary Rule of Link-Building – Say 'No' to Link Schemes. ... If you know about link schemes and have considered using them in your SEO strategy, you should cross it out of your mind, as it will probably do more harm for your website ranking than good.
