Hello everyone,

I have a very simple question regarding anchor texts for backlinks.

Let's say I am trying to target the "dedicated servers" keyword in Google but my backlinks seems to have been created with the anchor text "Servers Dedicated" basically, it is reversed.

Will it still help me rank for "Dedicated servers" or is it better to have the anchor in backlinks exactly set to that ?

I think this will also help but from what I see if you change the keywords' order you have different search results on Google

This is an interesting question because on the face of it, I'd definitely agree that using the link text to exactly match your desired SERP keyword is the best way to approach things. However at the same time mixing up the keywords linking back to you can really help give you a much more natural and organic backlinking strategy.

If you've already spent time promoting the wrong keyword, my suggestion would be to not worry and simply switch your keywords for your next SEO campaign.

You get what you paid for  :o

If you start linking with "servers dedicated" you're going to get ranked for that term. I'd switch your strategy and maybe change some of this links over (if it's easy for you).

Otherwise atleast you're still getting some SEO benefit for the actual backlink  :-X

Having the anchor text for backlinks exactly set to "dedicated servers" would be more beneficial for ranking for that keyword. While having similar anchor text like "Servers Dedicated" can still provide some relevance, it is generally better to have the exact target keyword as the anchor text. This helps search engines understand the relevance of the backlink and improves the chances of ranking higher for that specific keyword.

While having similar anchor text like "Servers Dedicated" can still indicate some level of relevance to the keyword "dedicated servers," it may not be as strong as having the exact target keyword as the anchor text. The more closely aligned the anchor text is to your target keyword, the better it is for your ranking chances.

Ideally, you would want to build backlinks with anchor texts that directly match your target keyword, such as "dedicated servers." This helps establish a stronger association between your webpage and the keyword, increasing the likelihood of ranking higher in search results for that keyword.

When it comes to anchor text for backlinks, there are a few factors to consider. First, having the exact target keyword as the anchor text is generally considered the most beneficial for ranking for that specific keyword. Search engines like Google use anchor text as a signal to understand the content and context of a webpage. When other websites link to your site with anchor text that matches your target keyword, it helps reinforce the relevance and importance of your page for that particular keyword.

However, it's important to note that having a diverse range of anchor texts is also valuable. Natural backlink profiles often include a variety of anchor texts, including variations and related terms. So, even if some of your backlinks have anchor text like "Servers Dedicated," it can still contribute to the overall relevance of your page for the keyword "dedicated servers."

The key is to have a mix of anchor texts that closely match your target keyword, along with variations and related terms. This helps create a natural link profile and signals to search engines that your page is relevant and authoritative in relation to the target keyword.

In summary, having the exact target keyword as the anchor text is preferable, but having variations and related terms can still contribute to the overall relevance and ranking potential of your page.

Doing this reversed keyword will help a little bit because Google does look for the words, but it also looks for the order they are in too so you will have better results not reversed.  Good luck
