Title: Anchor Text Backlink question
Post by: Seofinder on 04-20-2010, 19:18:30
Hello everyone,

I have a very simple question regarding anchor texts for backlinks.

Let's say I am trying to target the "dedicated servers" keyword in Google but my backlinks seems to have been created with the anchor text "Servers Dedicated" basically, it is reversed.

Will it still help me rank for "Dedicated servers" or is it better to have the anchor in backlinks exactly set to that ?

I think this will also help but from what I see if you change the keywords' order you have different search results on Google

This is an interesting question because on the face of it, I'd definitely agree that using the link text to exactly match your desired SERP keyword is the best way to approach things. However at the same time mixing up the keywords linking back to you can really help give you a much more natural and organic backlinking strategy.

If you've already spent time promoting the wrong keyword, my suggestion would be to not worry and simply switch your keywords for your next SEO campaign.

You get what you paid for  :o

If you start linking with "servers dedicated" you're going to get ranked for that term. I'd switch your strategy and maybe change some of this links over (if it's easy for you).

Otherwise atleast you're still getting some SEO benefit for the actual backlink  :-X

Doing this reversed keyword will help a little bit because Google does look for the words, but it also looks for the order they are in too so you will have better results not reversed.  Good luck
