Backlinks vicious circle
« on: 04-10-2013, 01:44:39 »
Good morning, everyone.

At least, this is how it seems, here in Greece. This is my first topic and i am a freshman in Seo enterprise, as well as a freelancer.

I have a small, but rather tricky issue, that could use a little help.

Building your backlinks, surely needs strategy. You cannot just ask for a link by anyone, even if it is a highly ranked page. Content (not as in SEO terms) and relevancy of that site, is very important, if i am not wrong.

Let's say now, that we have someone who has developed your page. And that firm, is a pr6 website. Your website is of totally different "interest" (quite usual, actually ;D) and a pr2 site.

The thing is that i want them to build a backilnk for me and i am thinking that they could also add an author meta tag, for them (since they haven't), in order to trick search engines to treat that backlink as relevant.

Does that seem logical?

Would it work?

Or am i mixing up things?

I would be very grateful to hear your thoughts and insights.

Thank you all, in advance!

I don't understand how author meta tag is connected with a link to your site. Search engines look only content to understand if the page is relevant or not. If they put relevant title meta tag - thats good :)
But nothing bad that several not relevant websites will refer to you, its pretty natural thing. Especially if it would be clickable by real users

It was a long shot, trying to build on the relevancy of that page, taking into account that the contents of the 2 pages, are 100% irrelevant.

Thank you very much on your insight, though!

I was wondering, I have several backlinks with little value today in the
hope they will gain and therefore transfer more value in the future. But
let's say I have a backlink with PR1 and I return a link to it that has PR4
or higher.
