A link which points to an internal page within a website.
When links grow naturally typically most high quality websites have many links pointing at interior pages. When you request links from other websites it makes sense to request a link from their most targeted relevant page to your most targeted relevant page. Some webmasters even create content based on easy linking opportunities they think up.

Here is a example of deep linking:
<a href="http://mediaproweb.ie/web-design-galway/">Web Design</a>

click on it and it will not take you on the main domain page but you will be sent to a internal web design page from the domain mediaproweb.ie.

I hope this answer is clear enough.  !-!

Deep linking is a tool used by websites to point a visitor directly to a page within the website instead of the landing page or front page of the site. Deep linking is a part of search engines that many visitors appreciate because it makes discovering what they are looking for easier. Deep linking is also an excellent way to take visitors directly to a product on a web page and not have them go through multiple pages to find it, especially on a website that has numerous products.

Basically deep linking is the linking of information to another page from a website page instead of the actual home page itself. A regular link will point to yahoo.com for example, where as a deep link will point to a particular web page inside of yahoo. Or perhaps consider a regular link will point to the MySpace homepage, a deep link will point to a members profile or some other specific feature page inside of MySpace.

Deep linking is creating a hyperlink that points to a specific web page or a picture on some website. The url of a deep link contains all the information for pointing to the respective item. Most of the commercial websites object the other websites by creating deep links into their content. This is mainly done either to avoid the advertising done on the main pages.

Basically Deep linking is making a hyperlink that points to a specific page or image on a website, instead of that website's home page.Websites which are built on web technologies such as Adobe Flash and AJAX often do not support deep linking. This can result in usability problems for people visiting such websites. For example, visitors to these websites may be unable to save bookmarks to individual page.

Deep linking is a tool used by websites to point a visitor directly to a page within the website instead of the landing page or front page of the site. Deep linking allows visitors to go directly to the information they require, which may be available on a certain page of the website, but not on the web page to which the basic link leads.
