In addition to simply searching out for quality sites to link with, do you guys use any particular sites or marketplaces where you can quickly connect with other link builders ? I personally use the digitalpoint forums to quickly establish link partners and get the process going  ?

Any other sites I should know about ?

I prefer not to use these market places as most of the site owners have rubbish sites. But the main ones I have used in the past are DP and SP. Both being good for getting your first few backlinks.

Certainly contact site owners directly can not only be slow but often they never reply :(

I actually really like the DP marketplace for link building. I've not only hired a few really good link builders from there but I've found it easy to very quickly get some good link exchanges going. It's probably the largest webmaster forum on the net and as such most people with sites are on there.

Other forums I use for link exchanges are v7N and webmasterforums!

I am active on Digitalpoint as well but haven't tried much with link partners.  I think it's a great idea to get some backlinks especially if they're content related.  I really like to use signature backlinks on forums such as DP though.

Back in the day I used to use a service from Ken Evoy called sitesell value exchange to find other websites with similar keywords as mine. It worked pretty well and I got updates every now and then on webmasters who wanted to exchange links.

I wouldn't spend too much time looking for exchange partners as it is not as effective as it used to be. there are better ways to be building links so focus on those.

I agree. Submitting to web directories is a good way to up your site ranking. Look for ones that offer 1 way links and don't require a reciprical link back to their site like http://www.articlevark.com
