There are some sites that mass add websites to directories and you pay a fee for that. Is this any good to do? I'm sorry all SEO lovers out there, but manually submitting to directories is a real pain in the a**! Can someone use these sites and are they any good or can harm your website?

I'm new to SEO, but I've read that at least google may penalize you for mass submissions, basically they take it as spam or trying to cheat the system.  I didn't see any information on what constitutes mass submissions though, maybe somebody else knows that?

I use a free software for this. It's not totally automated but, once I have prepared my site's details, the software leads me to the submission pages of all the major search engines. Then I just do mostly clicking.
This is better. The search engines can tell that the submissions are being done by a human.
