Hi everyone, I'm a beginner at SEO.
I read a lot of articles about link building, but not sure about it.
What are the basic principles for link building in 2020?
What has changed in the new year?

Link building has evolved over the years, making it far harder for spammers to compete. Today, what Google really wants to see are editorial links, natural links that publishers include voluntarily. In fact, that's all that Google ever i.e. don't actively build links because that means you're trying to manipulate search results.

You can certainly build links by participating in online communities around your market niche.  For instance, I promote an active lifestyle and healthy living concept.  I participate in several healthy living forums.  I share helpful content in which some (but not all) can link back to content that I seek to promote on my own page(s).

Get to know your audience
Great content won't land if it's aimed at the wrong target audience. Prior to seeking out backlinks, you need to understand not only what, but who matters to the success of your website

First up you need to make a list of your URL's and the target keywords. Then use Google to search for posts on your website where you could add relevant links. Add your links and then repeat for each URL/keyword in your list.
