So we all know that a press release doesnt work for an agency to pick up your story to publish it.
But for creating backlinks is a different story.
I have heard so many conflicting opinions.
But how about in 2017?

You think doing a press release would increase your ranks due to the backlinks?

Don't think so. Press Release links are not considered as best approach for modern SEO.

thanks for answering. Do you have credible sources?
I see so many people say yes, and no, but no one explains why, or where they get their info from.

A press release can often rank for targeted search and bring traffic to the website. When a PR ranks on Google, the user will click on it and will most probably also click on your website.

Press releases for backlinks is totally legit and a good way to get links.

It is not good for getting fame  or for people clicking on your links. Why? Because a press release for that purpose needs to be newsworthy, and let's face it... chances are low your press release is actually newsworthy, unless you are a NASA scientist, coming up with a cool way to fund robotics projects, or you are apple  with a new phone invention...

To the person that says  that it is not a good way to get backlinks... what is your backup? Why do you say that? ?!?!

PR can work wonders for helping you get buzz and exposure, but it also helps you get links back to your site in highly trafficked websites. A syndicated press release is not the same as real stories written about you.
