Profile linking is a offpage strategy. Profile linking is one of the traditions by which you can link back to your site. It engrosses adding your website URLs to the personal, professional, or business profiles that you build on different websites.
Just building profiles everywhere does not mean anything. You can save some time using such software like Xrumer or others. The profile itself does not give a value and if you start building only profiles Google will see that- it will be as black hat technique.

On the other side if you build strong profile- will be white hat- join forums relative to your niche and give users best answers you can. leave your link in profile or signature,- if you have written blog post you can link to it directly as a source of answer. In this case you will build value.

It may be a setting you have set up in your groups-while in groups-go to the My Groups page. If you don't have your 360 linked to a group-it will say Set Profile or something of the such-it's a link that looks like.

It involves adding your website URLs to the personal, professional, or business profiles that you create on various websites. You can sign up as a user or member on forums, social media sites, and other kinds of membership sites. Many such sites allow you to include your website URL on your profile, as well as insert links into your signature, comments, or updates.

Well, profile links can be built any site which allow creating account and using link on your account but make sure that you are using other methods of link building too, if you are building only profile links then you won't get much benefit as it won't look much natural, for natural links you should use as many methods of link building as you can.

Profile link building is a worthwhile SEO technique lately in use. In profile link building, you create user profiles on various forums, blogs, social media, message boards, guest books and web 2.0 sites, etc.
As most of these sites allow you to add your site URL and description, and so you can add your site URL along with a few anchor text links on these profiles. Thus, profile link building utilizes the authority of popular third party websites for the sake of building backlinks to the target pages.
